On September 15, 2007 Titan Motorsports and crew made the trek to Rockingham, NC for their first ever attempt at 10.5” racing. With only 5 passes in testing on the 10.5” tire the team was shooting just to qualify in a field of 15 vying for 8 spots. It was a grueling uphill battle as the Titan Motorsports Scion tC faced staggering opposition with some of the biggest names in 10.5” racing. Friday night qualifier got rained out and delayed to Saturday in which all rounds would be run. Friday night at dinner the team discussed its race strategy for the long day ahead.

The ADRL extreme 10.5 class is consistently dominated by the domestic crowd, and the Titan Motorsports Scion was the only import in attendance. First round of qualifying showed the team how difficult it was to run on 10.5’s and the Scion monstrous HP spun the tires. Second round showed promise and the team went to the #4 qualifying spot with a 4.44 in the 1/8 mile race. Third round the team was able to put down a 4.359 which put the team at #3 spot. If they didn’t get down the track they would have ended at #6, as the competition continued to improve.

Eliminations would prove to be grueling as they started at 7pm and the team had been racing all day. The first round Titan Motorsports Scion tC went a 4.352 / 169.61 which would be the quickest of the round to take the win over Micheal Neal. Semi-finals the team choose to stay the course and ran the quickest run of the event 4.335 / 168.43 to take the win over Rick Varner.

Kenny Kneece #8 qualifier showed that anyone, any day can win in the 10.5” class and Brad Personett was ready for anything. A 70 second staging duel occurred which will show great on television. Brad took the win with a 4.337 / 167.18 in which the team celebrated a great race. The event was one of the most rewarding to win because it is one of the biggest 10.5” races of the year as well as the hardest in which the team was at the race track for 18hrs straight.
Team Titan won their first ADRL race while simultaneously catapulting the Titan Motorsports Scion to be the first import to win in ADRL history. With this win the team moves to #8 in points and is eligible for the championship shootout held in Ennis, TX later this year.
