If you get a Datalogger and a Wideband I can should be able to walk you through it.. you might have to send me a few logs but i bet we could get it figured out and running great!

It would be helpful to know the pressure loss at various pressures you intend to submit the system to. Usually a manufacturer will only give you a single point (usually around 14psi), at which they calculate the pressure drop. As pressure goes up, pressure drop across the intercooler goes up. Can't avoid it but you do want the intercooler to show as small a drop as possible while still doing it's job efficiently.
Size matters and bigger isn't always better. Given the efficiency of the intercooler (ability to shed heat and it's pressure drop while doing so) and the space you have available, you have to do some calculations. A great book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell has some very good guidelines. For example: If the flow rate of your system is 400cfm a good intercooler would do well with about 20 square inches of internal flow area. Internal flow area = channel length * channel width * number of channels A channel is the individual plate that makes up the series of sandwiched plates which are your intercooler. |
