Hello everyone!
I have a little dilemna...well...maybe pretty big for me since i'll be the one buying the turbo. I'm trying to turbo charge my RSX Type S A-Spec (i'll post in some photos of this puppy). I've been doing some intensive research and i've decide upon the Greddy bolt on turbo kit since it can withstand my stock engine. I plan to later strengthen my engine maybe add a few upgradables, and intercooler, and possibly a bigger turbo. The first issue is: i don't want to have to loose the greddy turbo kit if i do any mods to the engine or applying a bigger turbo (later). The second is: i just heard about the HKS Turbo kit which seems to sound like a sweeter turbo kit but since i live in VA i think it gets into the 'illegal' subject and cant use it. My goal is not to obtain ALOT of horsepower and torque (well, maybe a little more torque since it's honda, ya know what i mean) but to have around 350 HP with around minimum 250 torque power (if its possible). Any suggestion or ideas would sound good to me. turbo is still part of what i want to do. Thanks in advance. Dark Templar ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by DarkTemplar; 03-20-2008 at 07:21 AM. |

I looked at some magazine about Garrett turbos but dunno if it can withstand stock engine for the meantime. They can build up so much power on those Garrett from what i've seen.

here my buddy greddy write up
I guess I'll start by saying this: The GReddy kit is good for those that want a boost in power up to a max of about 300whp with the following mods *indicates a MUST 1.) *K-PRO IS A MUST!!! Not only for power, but also reliability. 2.) *If you're gonna up the boost, Get bigger injectors (750s would be ideal). 3.) *Get a 3" DP 4.) *3" exhaust 5.) *Get 3bar MAP. The stock one only reads to about 10psi. You really want to be able to record spikes in boost. 6.) *If you are going to up the boost, some kind of Boost controller is a must. Many recommend the GM solenoid so that you can do the boost by gear with KPRO. 7.) *As with any turbo, coating the turbine housing (Swaintech or other) and DP helps. If you can't coat the DP, heatwrap it. 8.) *Get an RBC intake manifold. I just put mine on and it didn't require modifications to "fit", although I think for it to fit properly, you need to add a short length of pipe between the TB pipe and the one right before it. . I recommend (if you did the 3bar MAP) move the stock MAP sensor to the MAP sensor port on the RBC and plug the TB location with a rubber plug that comes with the Karcepts adapter and use the screw that held it in place to secure it in it's new location. Then remove the 2 screws holding the EVAP Purge Valve and turn it 1/4 turn CCW and secure it in it's new location. It will give you more clearance between it and the A/C line. 9.) High flow Fuel Pump is optional. 10.) Use an oil filter sandwich for your oil feed. It only costs about $20 and it could keep you from breaking the OPS and it also offers ports for an OP gauge. 11.) Tap the pan, don't use the banjo bolt. Some may think it's more insurance than anything else, but it's a good practice because the oil will drain to the pan more efficiently. It's much less likely to break and spill your oil. 12.) The oil lines it comes with are crap. Get some new ones. 13.) Any turbo'd car benefits from good suspension, LSD, good tires, and motor mounts. For those wondering, I personally use Innovative mounts, BC N+, Progress Sway and Quaife LSD. They made my wheel hop disappear and now I just need to worry about wheelspin. Crappy tires FTL 15.) With high-flow cat you may loose a little power, but like me, you will more than likely pass emissions tests unless ur in CA 16.) Like petah says, don't use the stock heatshield 17) Gains have been seen when switching to a higher flowing filter. Cheap power! __________________

thanks man! all this is very helpful. i have just a few questions.
"4.) *3" exhaust" - I have a 2.36 inch Injen Exhaust "5.) *Get 3bar MAP." - Any specific brands that you can recommend? GM solenoid Boost controller sounds perfect for me. "12.) The oil lines it comes with are crap. Get some new ones." - what kind of oil lines can i get? my suspension is terrible right now. its the stock A-Spec suspension (Well it's not bad right now but im sure it will be if i turboed it). i just wore out my Yokohamas ES100 (By the way, they suck balls!). i just ordered some 'supposedly' better yokohamas (im giving them another round shot on these). I plan to get some falkens. What do you think of those? any high flow cats you recommend? thanks for all this info. it's definitely helping and actually good reviews with the mod products you told me about. Keep it coming!
