Think about it, when the ground is wet, you just slip tires. When the ground is dry you experience stuttering (wheel hop). It's not just the tire either. It sounds to me that your tires are getting grip by the hopping. They're just able to connect because the springs are the path of least resistance (they are soft and allowing the wheels to go up and down). If your springs were stiff, they wouldn't give as easily and actually push the wheels down, as they are supposed to.
BTW, your wheel size has nothing to do with this. As it was suggested earlier, you'll only add more weight to your wheels by getting more metal over rubber. Sure, you won't spin out as much, but that's because a larger portion of the power is used to turn those heavier round things.

thanks man! im planning to get a new suspension set and keep the wheels. Just going to get a new set of tires cuz they are done.
