I have run both and electronic boost controllers give you more safety for your engine as it will do everything it can to compensate and stop it from over boosting. A manual is alright, but you have to be very careful when doing the initial settings and adjusting your pressure, watching your boost gage very carefully to verify. I myself never plan on running a MBC ever again unless for some reason I get the boost bug. But then again don't boost blindly get an AFR gage so you know you aren't killing your engine and make sure your turbo is properly sized. If you accomplish those things it really doesn't matter if you use an EBC or an MBC they both give you more power but an EBC will allow you to program how the boost comes on with profiles, etc... If your car starts with an EBC I would never go backwards in technology.
